Has anyone played with the ASP.NET Web Matrix Project yet? This was formally known as the Tahiti Project and Project Saturn.

If anyone is interested in writing a review TODAY of this project, let me know. I'd like to get a review on our sister site-- developer.com. I'd also be interested in hearing people's opinions here (in this thread).

You can download the IDE from:

http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/default.aspx?tabindex=4&tabid=46

Some questions I'd be interested in hearing people's comments on:

- Do you think it is worth the price?
- Does it get the job done?
- Do you like it?
- Why do you think Microsoft is giving this away?
- Do you think you'll use this tool?
- Would you use its mobile features?

I realized that I didn't really say what the ASP.NET Web Matrix Project is. In what is becoming typical Microsoft naming, this name doesn't really give you enough information on what it is....

It is a free IDE for ASP.NET development from Microsoft. Before the product was released, it was being described as a "Visual Studio .NET Lite" product specifically taylored for doing ASP.NET development.

I've only had limited exposure to Web Matrix so far, but it seems like any other IDE from Microsoft.

I think I will use it at home instead of at work though (since you have to be running Win2K or XP for it to work).

Because it is free (for now), I can't see any issue with the cost (he he), but the minute they start charging for it - I'm going right back to writing my scripts in NotePad.
