My problem, in short, is that I have lots and lots of creative energy and nothing to put it into. I love writing code. Although many call me sick (I'm sure a few of you out there can sympathise), it is one of my favorite hobbies. The problem lies in that coding by yourself is very lonely and limited. I'd love to get a job for some company writing code but I don't have my degree yet and I don't have any experience in the field so (I assume) no one will hire me. Also, even if I was able to get a job, I'm still in school and am therefore unable to relocate.

So... what do I want if I can't get a job?

Well, if I can't have a job I will settle for work. All work and no pay makes Matt a happy boy. Of course I would always love to get paid for writing code but (as I can see) I need field experience for that first.

Does anyone out there need code written for them? I'll do it for the price of being able to put it on my resume after I graduate.

In chronological order I have taught myself:
-QBasic (Whoopee)
-Pascal
-C++
-Visual Basic
-Perl
-Python
-Java

However those are not my limitations. I am language independant. Give me a refrence manual and a few days and I'm ready to go. I have a very object oriented mind and know when to call it into service.

Someone out there please help me. I'm drowning in my own frustration. If you want you can even ask me for something simple first and then build to a complexity that I am comfortable with and is benificial for both of us.

Sincerely,

Matt Murphy

If you are still looking for some experience. I am taking a VB class and am having some problems with the projects. (The work is probably intermediate level) I'll pay you for your time, so if you're interested I could e-mail you an assignment. If you want to do it, you could approximate how much it will cost and I will send you a money order and you could send me the project. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks

If you're interested email me and I have some things you can work on the CodeGuru site! Specifically it would be Perl work on this very discussion board. Not only would you be helping out tens of thousands of developers who use this board, but it would also enhance your resume greatly. You can contact me at tarcher@mindspring.com
