I think a really usefull series of articles would deal with the basics. Like basic algorithms such as CRC, Sorting, soundex, encryption, string finding, formatting currency strings yourself, you know, the classics. Many people would benefit from them.

Many newer programmers look upon programming these days as finding the right (often clunky) api to solve a problem and don't know what they can do on their own given the right algorithm.

And to be honest if I see one more implementation of the same old tired controls I think I'm going to hurl <grin>.

Come to think of it: how about a user interface of the future contest or something with brand new as yet unknown to man controls. After all these years there must be something suprising out there still?

I myself think that this is a very good and neat idea. Especially the new user interface controls. If I had any extra time, this is what I would like to do.
Thus, I second this entire email.
