question about visual studio

is there a "standard" edition of visual studio?
all i've seen is professional and enterprise, and they seem to cost a lot...

AFAIK there is no standard edition of the complete Studio, only of Visual C++. But there a special prices for students.

I remember seing a "Learning Edition" for VC 5. I don't know if it still exists. If you qualify for educational discounts, however, Professional is less than $100(US) I believe.
