floppy write verification

Remember in the old days, there was a command called VERIFY? It would ensure that whatever was written to a disk was verified to be written correctly. Is there a setting in NT 4.0 that will do the same thing? The command exists on NT, but help says it is only accepted for compatibility with MD-DOS files.
