New service = new business for content producers
Vancouver, BC - June 29, 1999 - The first of its kind, MediaDepot,
a web based content management system, delivers new opportunities
to content producers such as web developers, graphic designers, and
multimedia authors.
"This isn't just an application," explains Dave Wolstenholme,
president and founder of eMedia-IT Solutions, "this is a new way
of doing business - a way to add value to relationships between
producer and client. We have provided content producers with a FREE
service that they can deploy in their everyday interactions with
clients from around the world."
eMedia-IT launched its service June 1st, and in doing so, has
managed to redefine content management and its sister industry,
media asset management. Gone are expensive client/server
installations. With MediaDepot, the only thing required is a
browser (no proprietary software to purchase) and an Internet
connection.
The 29 year-old Internet entrepreneur, Wolstenholme, and his
company embody the attitude of the Internet - time and knowledge
are the currency of today's economy. "Did you know that
approximately 20% of a team's files, are likely duplicates? And,
did you know that a creative professional typically spends at least
3 hours per week sending files back and forth between colleagues?
Add it up and you have lost revenue opportunities in time and
maintenance costs."
When asked if he would consider his company an Application Service
Provider, he quickly nods and continues, "It's like I always say,
there are three things happening in the world - convergence of
technologies, exponential growth of content, and the mobility of
people and with them, knowledge. MediaDepot services all three
trends, and does it without ascribing to the old desktop software
model."
How does all of this equate to new opportunities for content
producers? Wolstenholme explains, "Content producers can put
their content in one place - where they know it's secure - and
then they can invite their colleagues and clients into their
"community" to view files and share comments and changes." As
Wolstenholme puts it, producers can add a new service to their
clients without spending a cent.
