CodeGurus,

I've recently released a product named ActiveUser™, which allows your application to automatically upgrade itself over the internet. If your projects are anything like mine, your users are scattered all over the world. They are only connected to you via the internet. Upgrading all these users is impossible, and the support calls about previous versions are really tedious.

ActiveUser™ changes all that. By installing ActiveUser™ along with the application I only need to upgrade the files on my web site. Users get any upgrades either automatically with a virtual short-cut, or on demand from a "Check for upgrade" button. Upgrade verification occurs locally so it really performs well. One client checks and downloads 180 files totaling ~25 MB. The verification takes less than a second.

ActiveUser™ is optimized to distribute software over a slow dial-up connection. It only distributes files that have changed, and downloads the changes in compressed form, uncompressing them on the local workstation. Of course it supports ActiveX component registration too.

ActiveUser™ not only simplifies distribution, it simplifies development and support. It eliminates the need to build patch programs, and keep track of patch interdependencies. It will automatically repair shared components that have been replaced with out of date versions. Finally, ActiveUser™ also automatically replaces any deleted accidentally deleted by your user.
