I've developed an NT/2K service that's been working fine on all versions of NT and 2K. However, when I attempt to start the service on a stock XP/Pro system (after it installed without an error), I get an alert -
c:\Windows\system32\Service.exe was not found
When I try to manually start the service, we get the dreaded -
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start of control request in a timely manner.
Was there some change in the Services architecture for XP? Do these problems ring a bell for anyone?
Thanks for any advice.
