I am in my third year of engg(Information tech.). I am very much interested in becoming a systems programmer. Please tell me what additional skills I should acquire and which languages i should be a perfectionist in.

Hi,

If you wanna go into systems, Goin for subjects
like Compilers, OS.

If you wanna go for languages Master C, VC++, Flex, Bison (lex and yacc).

Few points (these are definitely not exhaustive):

1. Master C.
2. Know how compilers work.
3. Know how Operating Systems work.
4. Always helps to try out writing simple system utilities yourself.
5. Know Unix. Always helps to know how this wonderful OS works.
6. In Windows, get to know and use Win32 API well.
