thinking about getting into programming

so i decided to ann, i mean pes, i mean ask a few questions about programming to people who are programmers. so, if you're still here:) (note, this isn't an official survey, this is just me.)

1. what is your position called?

2. are there other types of work similar to it?

3. how did you get into porgamming?

4. are there any special requirements i would need before i could bcome a programmer?

5. what other training do you think would be good before becoming a programmer
6. what are the essential skills to be successful?

7. what kind of personality does it take to be a programmer? (ie, am i the right kind of nut for the job?)

8. what's the best and worst of programming?

9. what's stressful about programming?

10. if i become a programmer, am i likely to find myself uh dissaquanted with a ready supply of money soon after aquanting myself with such? (uh, fired. terminated. let go. soon after starting (for problems that have nothing to do with me))

11. uh, would i get hired in the first place?

12. and if i did get hired, for about how much?

13. are the any websites or books you think i should look at?

14. is there anyone else you think has enough patience to answer these quetions?
