HELP - Proxy auto-configuration

I have an java application that currently the manual configuration of proxy, socks servers. I would like to make this process automatic, through the use of a proxy auto-configuration (.pac) file, which is just a javascript function sitting on a shared network device. Netscape and IE currently do this, and I would like to implement the same functionality but I have not been able to find any resouces as to how the execution of a javascript file happens locally from within a java application. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
