Is a MCSE diploma in Visual C++ accepted as a reasonable entry level to start finding employment?

Reason I ask is I have a City & Guilds in C
(with hefty project & supporting documentation etc... which is supposedly equiv to 6 months in the real world) qualification in England, however am finding everyone wants University degrees / 2 years min work exp.

Any constructive feed back would be most welcome!

Thanks in advance.

Rex.

Here in the US,
The college degree is valuable, but I find it is not necessary. Employers are realizing that some of the very best people out there didnt WASTE the time to to college. I feel it is a complete waste of time for those people that have an ounce of brains in them. For this people who dont know what they want to do then they can get a college degree and learn later in their life how to actually do the work. In my opinion, you have just wasted 4 years of valuable experience going to college. Anyways, the MCSD seems to be a strong certification. Not many people are certified with it, and it deffinately shows a reasonable amount of knowledge in a very specific field. Unlike college degrees which only show that you have the ability to spend alot of money putting yourself through a waste of energy.
Good Luck
