What can a recent CS grad expect to make in Silicon Valley?

Actually I will be graduating in May '01. I am thinking about moving out to the Silicon Valley area. I have been reading a lot about the extremely high living costs and am wondering if employers offer a way to meet those costs. I will be graduating with a 4 year degree in Computer Science. I am fairly proficient in C++ with 2 years of experience using VC++/MFC. I am also familair with HTML, Perl, PHP, and some UNIX. Approx. what can I expect to make in the area for my first job?
