Hi, I've been working as a programmer (in VB) for about a 2 years now. The first year was spent as a consultant customizing a mid-tier accounting application (Solomon IV for Windows). My work was principaly adding new screens and functionality to the product. For the last 6 months I have left my old job and have been doing strictly stand-alone VB development (creating my own DB apps). I feel I have evolved into a competent developer despite having a degree in an unrelated field (Finance). Despite this, my self confidence is a little shaky. I currently make $20/hour and feel I should make more. Since I work as a contracter, leaving for another, higher paying job is not a problem. What is a problem is how to much to ask for? Am I worth 25/hr? 30/hr? I am hesitant to go this high because I feel like there so many programmers out there who are more competant than I, especially with the constant VB bashing I hear (as compared to VC++ and other languages). Oh well, my rant is over.
