There are some files in my old computer that needs to be copied to my new computer. It's about 1.0 Gigs. Is there a way of connecting the old drive externaly to the new computer. If so what hardware do I need. Both drives same(No of pins etc.).

Sure. If both computers are in working order (OS loaded, etc.), I would suggest a tool such as Laplink. You hook up with a parallel or serial cable (included with the program) and copy directly. If you want to copy from just a hard drive (no computer), I would suggest just opening up your computer and putting it in as a second (or third, or fourth) drive. There are external HDD kits, but they're not worth it to just get old info off an obsolete drive.
