I have a question about reusing coding techniques when performing software development for several customers.
If a customer pays your firm to development a software application and provide it’s source code and further stipulates that your firm shall not resell copies of the software application to other firms, can your firm legally reuse the coding techniques that are specific to the application’s use of public domain drivers and API’s for other software applications that you later intend on selling or making available to the pubic?
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to approach my firms desire to reuse the coding techniques without fear of lawsuit?
When does the line between reusing techniques and actual code become gray?
Any thoughts?
