What are the questions like? Are the training courses and material worth the

money spent on them? What are some good resources for help with preparation?

Here is what worked for me:

(1) the Transcender mock exams--they're not cheap, but they are an excellent way to assess your level of knowledge.

(2) the Web--use "MSCE" and "brain dump" as search keywords to find comments others post on specific exams. As of Dec '97 the web site www.saluki.com had some very active threads on certification.

(3) plan your attack--study the curriculums (curriculae?) until you are 100% satisfied that you know which exams to take. Order the exams so that related subjects are grouped together to make studying easier.

(4) don't cram--make the effort to LEARN the material, not just the acronyms. The exams are "scenario-oriented", which makes last-minute cramming virtually useless.

Cheers!

You can find MCPEP software on Microsoft's site. It's the same software that

is being used on exams and it also contains database of sample questions.

This approach worked for me:

1. Try MCPEP tests until you score 95% every time

2. When taking exam DO NOT finish before your time is up. As Humble

Programmer wrote the exams are scenario oriented. I find out that usually

you will finish your test half an hour earlier and this is great time to think

twice about each question.

You can do your preparation in two ways !

1. If you want to really know your subject and then clear the exam - select a book from mcp.com, spend atlease 2-3 weeks reading that stuff, then take up mock exams from transcender.com and then sit for the certification exam.

2. If you are interested in clearing the exam alone !! go to the brain dump site, have a look at all the questions, get to know the answers for them and then go in for the exam ! you will definitely make it ! cos' the question bank that the MS has is very limited and hence most of the questions are often repeated. To get to the Brain Dump site .. go to any one of the search engines and search for "MCSD Brain Dump" or "MCSE Brain Dump"

Good Luck !!!!!!!!!

I am a MCSD and i did this without any microsoft certified course material (Microsoft Official Curriculam) but i got the friends who are realy good in MFC and OLE. So, if you have friend who realy intrested in doing certification than sit with MSDN Current release and TRANSCENDER becouse it is enough to clear certification.

REMBER WHEN EVER YOU MAKE DECISION THEN STICK ON IT UNTILL YOUR LAST BREATH, do got ny point.
