Hi,
have you any practices with XML? I'm not. So I ask:
Can be XML used for communications between different applications in real-time (I mean industrial real-time, not e-commerce or anything like this).
I can see, that XML can be used with thin client (web-explorer) where XML document is stored in files. But I think in real time process is (for example each 10 seconds) too slow preparing few XML files (which can be long).

Thanks, Alex.

I suppose it depends on your algorithms and the specific project you're working with. XML is just a universal self-describing data format. Being made of text, it can certainly be compressed if you're worried about network traffic. I'd love to be able to give a definite answer, but when you throw processing time into the mix it's really going to depend on a lot of conditions specific to your project.
