.Net is a new technology which will substitute COM. The core is .Net Framework, which must be installed on every computer where you run .Net application. That will eliminate all ActveX controls, ActiveX dll, API etc. The comunication with the database is through ADO.NET, which is much more powerful in comparison with ADO (or DAO and RDO)

.Net seems to be a complete replacement for everything Microsoft has ever released.
THe Microosft.Com web site has many many articles about .net
go here to get a preview

Hi Iouri

So u mean to say that Vb.net can work across the
network.

Let me tell u one thing what i hav assumed abt
dotnet. u pls make me clear at the end.

I hav a db in SQL Server which is installed in a
WebServer. Now i created some client applications
which will be installed in the client mac. Will
my client app be able to access the Sql Server
which is installed in the web server from any
part of the world.

Can i create apps in that way?

THX in advance
