Microsoft Hopes SQL Azure Will Drive Developers to the Cloud

TechEd 2011 brought developers together last month to look towards the future. The message from Microsoft to developers was lofty--the Windows Azure platform is efficient, economical and is the future for app development. How does SQL Azure fit into the picture?

Mark Kromer, a Microsoft database platform specialist, believes that SQL Azure, and the DAC Framework 1.1, will make migration to the cloud much easier. The functionality provided by the DAC Framework eliminates the boundaries between SQL Azure and SQL Server, allowing the migration of applications from one to the other with less issues.
