Microsoft Drops the "Series" Tag for Windows Phone 7

One thing seems to be certain, it was a mistake when Microsoft revealed "Mango" as the new Windows Phone 7.5 update slated for later 2011. And while Microsoft still maintains that no actual version number has officially been given to the update, the latest build of Windows Phone is currently at 7.1, given the update released just last month. Corporate Vice President of Windows Phone Marketing, Achim Berg mentioned during this years Mobile World Congress summit that the upcoming addition to Windows Phone 7 was indeed big enough to warrant its own new point increment, but we'll know for sure sometime around October 2011.

Is it Mango, is it 7, or maybe 7.5? Not even Microsoft knows what to call it.
