Is Microsoft Windows Phone 7 doomed to fail?

With October 11th rapidly approaching, the new smartphone OS has failed to inspire any measurable interest in the mobile phone market, but is it really fair to gauge interest when it hasn't even been released to the public yet. Stand by, it may still be a hit yet.
