I tried to run it in my machine with Windows 98 SE.
However, I kept receiving
"FILE_NOTIFY_CHANGE_SECURITY" in the
findchangenotification list box even if I did not
modify the directory tree. After I screened the thread
which handles the FILE_NOTIFY_CHANGE_SECURITY event,
the findchangenotification list box can show the other
types of notification info when I operate the folder
or files. But no any information is shown in aother
event monitor using ReadDirectoryChangesW list box.
Could you help me with the problem?

Thanks for your article. I found it very interesting.
When you open any program, say IE, your program says the exe and some of the DLLs it calls are being modified.
Are the programs editing themselves, or is this just a timestamp change.
Also, does this API work for files created on tape?

I noticed that while I'm running the program, I can't rename files in the C:\Program Files directory. I also can't create folders or files in the C:\Program Files directory.
Here's an app you might like: http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/filemon.shtml
