Oracle has been in the news a lot due to its proposed acquisition of Sun Microsystems. We've watched that acquisition due to the impact it could have on Java and MySQL. Today Oracle is in the news due to a large number of announcements. As one of the big players in the computer software world, it never hurts to keep your eyes on what Oracle might be doing.

I'm listening to a presentation by David Chappell from Tech Ed. I'm sure it will result in a few blog posts or comments on the forums! Coincidentally, over the past few weeks we've been talking strategy and long term focus for a number of Internet.com sites including Codeguru. As such, it is interesting to hear David ask the question, "what does strategic mean?"

If this is the future of controllers, then all I can say is, "Wow".

It looks like October 22nd is the day you'll be able to buy Windows 7, but it was announced that it should release to manufacturing (RTM) in late July. Generally when a Microsoft RTMs, it is also released to their MSDN and other subscribers. The October 22nd date fits with the rumors we had heard earlier that had targeted October 23rd as the street date for the new windows operating system.
