What do DOM, AJAX, Design Patterns, ASP.NET 2.0, and Agile Web Development with Rails all have in common?

If you guessed that they all are topics that involve Web development, you wouldn't necessarily be wrong, but you wouldn't be right in regard to my question!

These five topics are covered in some of the top ten computer books that were selling on Amazon at the time I wrote this newsletter. I found this to be an interesting list of topics, but not a surprising list. Web development has taken over.

Along with that, methodologies, architectures, and simply "thinking before coding" also seems to be gaining ground over the simply "code until it works right" approaches that many people have often used. The fact that Design Patterns and Agile programming books are near the top of the book list is a great sign. Hopefully this trend continues!

Of course, three of the other top 10 books that I didn't mention focused on eBay and selling stuff. So I guess the next best thing to coding might just be selling things. I wonder if you can buy a book on eBay about buying things on eBay.....

Until next week...

Brad!
