Comments from
the Editor
==========================================================

If you enjoyed my movie comments in the past, I have a comment today that
you’ll most likely find interesting. The Incredibles opened two week-ends ago.
In its first week-end it took in over $70 million. This week-end it brought in
another $50 million thus bringing its total to $143 million. It took 9 days to
break $125 million in revenue.

The best opening week-end for a movie was $114 million for the original
Spiderman.

What is interesting about these two movies is that they are both full of
computer animation. Without computers and without the animation provided by the
computers, neither would be as great. I don’t believe either would have done as
well either.

What is amazing, however, is that in the field of entertainment, both of
these movies have been blown away with a new record. In a single 24 hour period,
a computer program has blown past not only the Incredibles, but also the number
one opening of Spiderman.Last week, Microsoft Game Studio and Bungie released
Halo 2 for the XBox. In a single 24 hour period, sales were registered at $125
million. That is a record for a one day gross for a retail entertainment
product.

In news that is more relevant, .NET is now on smart cards! Hive Minded has
ported a version of .NET to smart cards based on the ECMA/ISO standard CLI
specification. This is just one more area where .NET developers can expand their
existing knowledge with little additional effort. For more on this, check out
the press release posted in the CodeGuru forums:

Until next week!
